 The Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse (CADA) is hiring a Part-Time SB-38 Counselor to support our DUI treatment program in Downtown Santa Barbara. 
 
This is an interesting and rewarding position working with individuals referred by the courts to re-instate their driving capability. SB38 is the Senate Bill referring to a DUI program for repeat offenders that drivers must complete when they receive a second DUI conviction within 10 years of a prior DUI or wet and reckless conviction. EDUCATION:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent required 
  • AA/AS in Psychology, Counseling or another relevant field preferred.    
LICENSES:  
  • Substance Abuse counselor registration, certification, or clinical license from a State of California Accredited Institution.
EXPERIENCE:      
  • Experience providing counseling services to diverse, bilingual, bicultural clients preferred.   
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the field of alcohol/drug counseling strongly preferred.   
OTHER: 
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.    
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.   
  • Specific knowledge of individual counseling principles and techniques, and substance abuse assessment and case planning. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Systems and Databases 
RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Conduct individual and group substance abuse counseling, education, and relapse prevention sessions. These sessions will be for outpatient treatment and 18-month DUI multiple offender program. 
  • Maintain a caseload and ensure weekly services are provided to meet the needs of the individuals served. 
  • Outreach and schedule clients as needed for their treatment goals and productivity (CHECK ORGS 
  • Conduct client assessments. Assessment for DUI program clients will be completed during first individual counseling session utilizing provided client assessment tool.  
  • Track SB38 clients progress in program providing progress reports per title 9.  
  •  Timely  and appropriate Client File Documentation, Case Notes, and File Examination. 
  • Complete required annual trainings for Santa Barbara County Dept. of Behavioral Wellness.  
  • Complete documentation accurately, professionally, and within the prescribed time frame. 
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors, support staff, and external service providers. 
  • Attend staff meetings and all other required meetings. 
  • Complete all required trainings timely. 
  • Uphold all HIPAA compliance standards. 
  • Collect payment from clients. 
  • Keep abreast of current literature and research in the field of alcoholism and drug addiction/abuse. 
This is a part-time position, 16 hours per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:00pm-8:00pm). This is an in-person position, and a successful candidate would be required onsite in Santa Barbara.   

Compensation is dependent of the level of prior experience and qualifications, with a salary range of $22-$25 rate increase potential for bilingual (Spanish/English).
